Introduction to Community Church Unitarian Universalist

Community Church is an active and friendly Unitarian Universalist congregation in New Orleans, Louisiana. Like all of the best UU churches, we are made up of people who take both a rational and active approach to our faith. We are a congregation of people who seek the truth, strive for a better world and commit ourselves to living thoughtfully.

Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religion with Jewish and Christian roots. It has no creed. It affirms the worth of human beings, advocates freedom of belief, the search for advancing truth, and tries to provide an open, supportive community for people who believe that ethical living is the supreme witness of religion. Membership is open to anyone who is attracted to this philosophical approach.

You are invited to join us Sunday afternoons at 11:00 am. for our Sunday Services . We are now meeting at CCUU Annex, 316 38th St. (corner of Fleur de Lis) in Lakeview. Maps and directions to this location are available here. In addition to a stimulating sermon, or occasionally a special program, you will find

  • a religious education program for children;
  • child care for tiny ones;
  • for those who like to sing, a choir which welcomes new voices; and
  • after service coffee and conversation to give us an opportunity to know each other.

Our church features frequent social events, lively discussion groups, and a warm congregation strongly bonded to one another and welcoming to newcomers.

We also welcome you to attend any of our social events and discussion groups. Details about these and more are posted in our newsletter, copies of which are available on this website.
