The construction of our new sanctuary is completed. TriMark Contractors will hand over the keys to our building on Monday, April 4th. We were blessed this week with volunteers from West Shore UU Church in Cleveland, Ohio. They worked very hard to complete the landscaping, carefully setting one plant after another into place on Monday, then covering the ground with mulch on Tuesday. The weather was in the mid-80s, a blessing for them, a break from what they had back home, but then our hot, dry weather succumbed to a wild thunderstorm on Tuesday evening. Our plants and the newly-laid sod loved the timely arrival of moisture.
It is truly a joy to witness the end of a long struggle to return to our place of worship. Our efforts next week will be on filling our new building with furniture. Chairs are due mid-week. Our members will help move many items from our annex to our new building. The plans are in place for a wonderful Building Dedication service on April 10. This celebration will be shared by the members of the Greater New Orleans Unitarian Universalists--making this a year when our three churches will have back-to-back GNOUU Sundays. We will gather together for our Earth Day Service in Audubon Park on April 17.
Again, we send our thanks to all who have helped us along the way. We wish you could all join in on our building dedication; however the fact of the matter is that we will already be bursting at the seams on the 10th and just hope the late-arrivers can all find a place to sit (or are comfortable sitting cross-legged).
